World Relief Modesto's First Employment Workshop

On Friday, August 2, 2013, World Relief Modesto held its first “Employment Information Workshop.” Refugees who were interested in finding employment came to learn about the process of finding and applying for jobs and creating an American resume. The class was taught by Diana Mendoza, and a total of seven refugees attended this first class. As the refugees present spoke Arabic, Farah Alshiraida was present to provide translations. Topics covered included how to find available job positions and how to create and organize a resume. Questions about the specifics of making a resume were also asked and answered. Weekly Workshops are planned throughout the month of August, and future meetings may walk interested refugees through the process of making a resume and practice the interview part of the job application.
